В процессе The game freezes

Hello friends, please, lately when I start New Balance, the game doesn't respond at all. The music plays but the menu doesn't respond and I have to open the task manager and restart the game.

Basically, all I need to do is open the task manager using the ctrl alt delete keys and go back to the game, then the game runs as it should. Only when I start it, it freezes.

I have two texture packs in the game. UAWR Light, the latest version, and a winter texture pack with a Christmas tree. I also have the Wrath of the Baliar and Path of the Damned difficulties.

I always had all of this and it was never a problem, but in the last two days the game freezes often when I start it. What could it be and how can I solve it?

@MartinMH, no idea, may be u installed some huge mod (also) which has a lot of compiling?
How many seconds u waited before go to task manager?
Wait for 15-20 seconds, some large mods require it (like "New quests")

I haven't installed any huge mods. Nor any add-ons. The last time I reinstalled the whole of Gothic 2 I think was in August when the new installer came out and I think there was also an update to DX11 then.

I started a new game about a week ago but I haven't joined anyone yet.

As I said, it doesn't happen regularly. Only when I start the game. And I basically have a new computer. It was a year ago in September and since then everything has been working perfectly fine so I'm wondering what could be wrong with it.

So u have problem only in menu or game too?

Only in the menu. There is no problem in the game.
Windows Defender does not do it because I made an exception for the entire Gothic 2 folder there when I first installed New Balance so the antivirus does not do it.

I will try to remove the UAWR Light package. Maybe it does it. I tried to remove it for a while and then it worked fine but I removed the UAWR about 20 minutes ago so we will see

and I have to open the task manager, deactivate gothic 2.exe and restart the game. Though it can be loaded, if to wait some 10 minutes in my case. But it`s too long to wait.
Try to open the task manager, deactivate gothic 2.exe and restart the game.

But I was advised to try alt+tab and that helped. I didn't even have to open the task manager.
