"A Weakening Position"
In a forest quite a distance from Khorinis, we encounter several bandits. Surprisingly, they do not attack us, although their leader, Quentin (the one from Gothic I), draws a weapon. The hero manages to calm the situation by saying that he was also in the Penal Colony. Quentin then tells him to walk a few meters away, where he admits that after the barrier fell, many of his men left for other gangs or are trying to start a legal life. Only three of his former men remain from his former gang. Recently, Wyatt (a new character) also joined his gang, but he is only a twenty-year-old rookie. Quentin would like to regain his former reputation. He has a plan because a traveling merchant has arrived in Khorinis and apparently made a lot of money. He is supposed to go to Onar's farm soon. Quentin wants to send the hero and Wyatt to Khorinis to learn the details about the merchant's departure. In Khorinis, the hero asks in the square. He learns that the merchant has two bodyguards with him and plans to hire a guard, Mika, to additionally escort him to Onar's farm. The hero meets with Wyatt at the agreed-upon location, a port tavern. We tell him what we've learned, and he looks frightened. He tells us when and at what time the merchant will leave for Onar's farm. Now we have a choice: 1) Believe him and return to Quentin. 2) Ask at the port for details about the merchant's departure.
1) This choice causes the attack on the convoy with the wealthy merchant to fail. Wyatt gave the wrong time. Quentin and three of his men attack us while Wyatt is helping us. After the fight, Wyatt admits that Mika is his older brother, and he didn't want him killed in the attack, so he misled the hero and Quentin. Now Wyatt lives in Khorinis, and the hero can bring Quentin's head to Lord Andre. Quest is completed
2) This choice causes The hero exposes Wyatt's lie. He admits that Mika is his brother and he wanted to save him. The hero comes up with the idea to discourage Mika from escorting the merchant and replace him himself, which would allow him to carry out the robbery or, at a decisive moment, help the merchant. We go to Mika. We tell him that we want to take over his contract. He wants gold, which we give him. Now we go to the merchant and inform him that Mika has resigned. He wants proof of our fighting skills and wants to see how we defeat the city gladiator Alrik. He then agrees to go with him. The robbery takes place, now we can help the merchant (a reward from him and Wyatt's return to life in Khorinis, Quentin's head for Lord Andre and a reward) or help Quentin's men (the merchant is killed and robbed, as are his two bodyguards, a reward from Quentin, Wyatt stays in the gang, new Bandits join Quentin). Both final choices end task.
