Are slain monsters respawning or chapter transition simply adds new ones?

@supasnacks, in all modifications, only new monsters appear, not the slain ones.

@supasnacks, if you complete all the mercenary quests beforehand (not necessary to join the mercenaries), then you won't miss almost anything (no experience or rewards).
Afterward, you can proceed to Chapter 2 without even killing every monster in Khorinis.
However, if you're an inexperienced player, the monsters in Chapter 2 may be too powerful for you.
